SENIOR SKIP DAY

I'm pretty sure I know where Lauren is this morning, but I'm not sure where she'll be the rest of the day. I offered to be on "stand by" if her friends weren't planning something she wanted to do to go buy school stuff...new bedding, clothing, etc. Neither of us really like to shop...but we might make a day of it.

I can't believe she only has 3 full days of high school remaining. This school year has gone by fast!

Weekend Visit

SO thankful for the beautiful weather Saturday. I needed the sunshine and the trip to Fayetteville to see Ryan. I miss he and Katelyn and I'm afraid that as the school year winds down our opportunities to see them both will be slim. I'm thankful for their precious hearts and the things they'll be doing this summer...but a mama needs her kids.

The Best Speech Ever

In our sarcastic world and family...sometimes it's hard to see what is really going on in our hearts. I'm thankful for glimpses into my kids minds and hearts that reminds me that they are hearing some of our teaching and training. I'm also thankful for Sheridan's testimony as she wrote this piece solely on her own and in her public school classroom.

Baseball on the Hill

One of our dear friends has season tickets to the Razorback baseball games AND a great ZOOM lens! She took these pictures earlier in the year and sent them to us! I'm tickled to have pics of Ryan in the bullpen. He's having a blast! The HOGS were ranked #1 in the nation at the beginning of the year however, they've struggled to win several of their SEC series. Is Ryan still loving it? Yes! We haven't gotten to go for the last three home series, but hope to go see him this weekend. I'm SO GLAD he's close.  

Annie

Both Erin and Sheridan had parts in the Spring Mus-i-cal at CHS! A hobo and an orphan! They both loved learning dances and songs and having a part in a musical with their friends and classmates. Richard and I hung out with the orphans during their down time on the first night of the musical, and Saturday night we were in the crowd cheering them on! It was fun to spend time with Sheridan's girlfriends and get to know some of the new girls. Overall, it was a good experience for them both! Super thankful for programs that encourage kids to be their best, try new things and have a high standard for excellence.

Adoption Update

So, all our paperwork has been declared EXPIRED. We have had our (second) 1st home visit and completed FBI fingerprinting. This weekend we will participate in 15 hours of training. The second set of training weekends, Richard and I will both be out of town and not available. We are hoping for another class to open up in a surrounding county so we can complete training ASAP.

Other than CPR training and 2 more home visits, locking up our knives, and moving the ibuprofen back up above the washing machine, we are ready. It's hard to not want to plan for boys to move in this summer. In fact, I've painted over the bathroom in the back and it's no longer pink. I've put out the navy sports comforters on the twin beds in the back bedroom that we refer to as the "boys' room."

At this time we aren't making any formal plans for this summer as a family. I pray the Lord's will be done and that the timing will be perfect for all. I pray as these boys age, day by day. they will be cared for, prayed with, and even loved by their middle mom.

Mr Rogers Neighborhood

We have this fabulous group at our church that call themselves the JOY group. JOY stands for Just Older Youth. Every month these senior adults have a fun fellowship which includes a meal, decorations and a program with various people. A few months ago the lady in charge asked if our family would be interested in hosting a program. We love these folks, so I agreed. She got back in touch with me and told me they decided to go with a Mr Rogers visits the neighborhood theme. Well, I loved the Mr Rogers Neighborhood television program so I agreed. It was a huge mistake on my part to not ask Richard if HE would be available. Three weeks ago when she reminded me of the date, I had to tell her Richard was going to be out of town on the first Tuesday of the month. ...I was so embarrassed by my mistake!

They ended up moving the date from the first Tuesday to the second Tuesday to accommodate us. I really wanted to do a good job with the program, and since I had volunteered Richard for the gig I wrote the program. Richard had to get into full character so he could host the evening, and he did a fabulous job! It went off without a hitch, and with the help of  few special guests, we had fun and enjoyed the evening with this great group of people. I'm thankful for our church family.

SUPER WEEKEND

1. Friday: Lauren played soccer at home
2. Lauren received her first Yellow Card!
3. Sheridan had soccer game on Friday night
4. Saturday: Lauren's Senior Prom
5. Ryan came home for the weekend
6. Katelyn visited our home for the first time
7. Richard and I hosted a prom midnight scavenger hunt and snack bar
8. Sunday: worshiped with our church family
9. Mimi came for lunch on Sunday

We've been BUSY and it's been so fun! I'm so thankful for my kids and also that we live in a beautiful part of the country...even though it was FREEZING AND RAINING 3 days this week and absolutely beautiful Friday - Sunday! I'm so glad Ryan goes to school close and that he wants to come home when he can. AND, every time we spend time with Katelyn we love her more. It's been a SUPER WEEKEND!
