Calling the HOGS

We drove up the NWA hill to call the HOGS on the 29th! The football team was in the Belk Bowl in Charlotte, North Carolina, and the basketball team was playing in Fayetteville. We went to Bud Walton Arena for the day to watch both! We ate concessions for lunch and dinner and that pretty much was the highlight of our day...because the HOGS lost both games. It might not have been so bad if the football team hadn't been up at halftime 24-0, but didn't score again and lost! HOWEVER, we're HOG fans no matter what and spending time with the kiddos doing something we liked was a great way to spend a day! #WPS

Chancellor's Award

We drove up to Fayetteville yesterday for Ryan's senior awards ceremony for ROTC. It's the third one we've been to and every time we've walked up the sidewalk to Old Main I nostalgic feelings for our days in school there. In 3 weeks Ryan and Katelyn will be done with their time in Fayetteville. We haven't gotten to NWA near as many times as we thought we would when he chose to go to our alma mater. Of course, it's not like we'll forget the good ole U of A, the alumni association and any every other fund raising office at the school has our number!

Ryan received the Chancellor's Award for "the highest personal and ethical standards, balancing academic and athletic achievements and superb leadership traits." He's made a lot of great memories on the Hill. I'm so thankful he will be able to look back with no regrets.

Basketball Season!

We took in a few Razorback basketball games last year, but more because we need the outing than because we wanted to cheer on the HOGS. This season Richard loaded up 3 of the kiddos and took them to Bud Walton Arena for a game. Not sure the size of the crowd, but I was sent these two pics during the game. GO HOGS! 

Go HOGS!

The HOGS lost today, but we loved watching them at home on the new SEC network. I'm not going to change teams just because we lost. We're going to still wear our Razorback t-shirts and call the Hogs anywhere with just a little encouragement. Ryan and 16 of his friends drove to Auburn for the game!

We're raising our kids cheering on the HOGS and we'll stay at it even if we don't have a good season. I'm happy to announce I wasn't one of the people who took a nap on the couch today! GO HOGS!

 

 

 

 

FAMILY TIME

The weather was sketchy all weekend but it turned out to be a non-issue on a very busy Saturday for the family. Dynamite Soccer played a very skilled and tough team on Saturday morning in Russellville. Sheridan woke up with a rash all over her body from a reaction to her medicine she had been taking for 9 days! It was almost more than she could take, but after a minute to adjust she took the field and was a great defender.

After a 4-1 win, we picked up Lauren and headed to the Hill to watch the Hogs vs Texas A&M We were on I40 with the rest of Central Arkansas...including Tusk.

We got to see Ryan a sum total of 15 minutes. We picked him up at his apartment, drove the long way to the ROTC building and dropped him off for check in. He gets to be on the color guard at most home football games, and apparently has to be there 2 hours and 15 minutes before game time. I sent him a text that told him I'd call his "commander" and ask if he could be a little late so he could spend some extra time with his family. He didn't feel like that request would be received favorably.

 

The Hogs have been struggling, and so it wasn't guaranteed to be a good game, but they played hard and even in threatening rain and stormy skies, lost by only 12. Watching a Heisman winner play...it was impressive, even from the opposing side.

In case you missed it, the HOGS are 2-0. I love it when we all get to dress fun, and think happy thoughts, and call those HOGS!

Mother's Day at the Ballpark

 

 

BEAUTIFUL weekend at Baum Stadium in the last home series of the year. Richard went on Friday night and the whole family went on Saturday. It's fun for us to know someone on the field and it's always fun when the HOGS win! After the game the team huddles on the field and then the players can come talk to their families and hug their girlfriends. Erin and Sheridan were down on the wall and apparently there were TV cameras filming the winning pitcher who was standing beside Ryan. We started getting texts that they were on TV as we were leaving the park. It's so fun to live in Arkansas!
