When I was 40 I went for my first eye exam. I didn't realize I was having some negative feelings about my age, but when I was taking the exam where you have to signify if you see wiggly lines, I started tearing up! I thought I was doing badly and going to have to get glasses! I didn't, but I was embarrassed for my tears.
When I was at my last event in September, I couldn't see the numbers and letters well on our tags. The font is small and I was having trouble distinguishing between the 1s and Is. So...I went back to the eye doctor and was prepared for the need for glasses. Bifocals, in fact.
Since I've had them, I have noticed that all words were blurry! Wow, I read a couple books a week! What a difference a little lens makes. And, although I'm still a little hesitant to have them on in public, they have certainly been worth the money when I'm grading work of Sheridan's...which all is miniaturized in the teaching guides.
I'm older and still working to admit my weaknesses. Thankful for my glasses today.
